This is a Maru obi with circle pattern of crane and flower eating bird, which is woven.
This piece was woven by Kawashima Weaving Co., one of the most famous obi weavers.
Gold foil threads woven in the pattern are shining gorgeously.
Textile is exquisite silk and has light touch.
It has kaikiri lines(end mark line) on both ends, which is suitable for Hikinuki knot style.
You can see the three lines and 'gunpai'(referee's fan) mark on the tare end, which are the evidence of Kawashima's obi.

Textile is exquisite silk and has soft touch.
Both ends are roughly sewn, but not disturbing for wearing.

The discoloration on its base is not so bothering, but has prominent folding lines and tears on both edges and on its base.
Though indicated as uneven spot of weaving, they are tears.
(refer to the 3rd and 5th flaws photo)
The gold threads on the tesaki line are largely coming loose.
For details, please check the figure and photos.

It may not have enough strength to be worn.
However, it must be wonderful handicraft material of interior decor!

*Kawashima Textiles Co.*

In 1843, company founder, Jimbei Kawashima, opened a fabrics store in Nishijin, Kyoto.
Now Kawashima has two ongoing businesses, traditional garments/textiles and interior products, such as curtains.
The three lines and Gunpai, referee's fan, emblem are the two significant marks of the brand.
The brand is famous because their products and design are elegant, detailed and sophisticated.
Their Hon Fukuro obi is especially highly evaluated for its comfortableness and evenness in thickness.
