This is an exquisite Maiko's Darari Obi with cranes on 'kikko'(tortoise shell) pattern, which is woven.
The wrong side has 'Kiku'(chrysanthemum) on 'kikko'(tortoise shell) and it seems like some Obis are sewn together.
The gold foiled threads are lavishly woven on the base and on the pattern, and they are elegantly shining.
This Darari Obi was once used by an actual Maiko in Kyoto.
The Kamon(family crest) emblem is sewn on 'taresaki'(end of part).

The length is more than 6m(19'68") which is long and heavy enough for a Darai knot.
It comes to mind about the graceful scene of swaying belt from left to right as Maiko walks.
The right side is Zentsu (fully patterned) and the wrong side has 'Kiku'(chrysanthemum) pattern on 4/3 of the obi.
Textile is 'Jinken'(rayon) and has light touch.

There are no flaw photos, but the end of 'tesaki'(narrow end) is not straight and it is crooked diagonally.
It seems like it was re-tailored Fukuro obi to make this Darari Obi, and there are 2 seams on it.
There are frays on the prominent linear stains, and it seems well worn.
It has repaired tears of zigzag stitches on it.(Refer to the 4th flaw photo)

It has noticeable frays allover and it is not suitable for wearing.
This Darari Obi is indeed a very rare item, it actually worn by a Maiko in Kyoto!
Please enjoy this lovely and rare item!
