This is an exquisite Maiko's Darari Obi with bold waves pattern, which is woven with mostly with shiny gold threads.
This Darari Obi was once used by an actual Maiko in Kyoto.
There is a Kamon(family crest) thickly embroidered with gold threads on both sides at Tare end.
The length is more than 6m,(19'68") long enough for a Darai knot.
The Obi shifts left to right as Maiko walks, and the scene is very graceful.
Textile is soft silk.

Ti seems that this Darari was re-tailored from a Fukuro obi as there is a total of three seams as seen on drawing image. (third and fourth photos after the drawing image)
Pattern on the wrong side are only within three parts. The rest is blank.
Kamon parts at Tare end are also added.
It is prominently smudged throughout, and parts of corners, ends, edges, folding lines are frayed and torn ( first photo after the drawing image ), especially the parts of vermillion color yarns are prominently frayed and missing. (A)
Fabric at about 50cm(19.6in) from Tesaki end is severely frayed so the part is reinforced with stitches. ( next photo after the photo B)

Part of the seams at the edges are coming loose, and the parts might expand. (sorry no photos)
It has some other flaws, such as slight discoloration and patinas, as shown on photos.
Please see photos for details.

This Darari Obi is indeed a very rare item, actually worn by a Maiko in Kyoko!
Due to its heavy usage, it has some flaws, but it is still a very lovely and rare item to enjoy!
