This is a Maiko's summer sheer Darari obi with zestful Asagao 'morning glory' pattern, which is woven in genteel colors.
This Darari Obi was once used by an actual Maiko in Kyoto.
There is a Kamon(family crest) thickly embroidered with gold threads on both sides at Tare end.
Gold foil threads included in the pattern gorgeously shine.
Unlike normal obi, this obi is very long, approx. 6m, to tie a gorgeous Darari bow.
The Obi shifts left to right as Maiko walks, and the scene is very graceful.
Textile is summer sheer Ro silk, and it has soft and smooth touch.

Dyestuff of Maiko's Kimono has transferred to the Obi prominently along the folding lines and edges. (A) (third and fifth photos after the drawing image)
Also, weft yarns along the folding lines and Tesaki end are frayed and torn in places from being pulled. (seventh and ninth photos after the drawing image) (B)
Corners of Tare and Tesaki ends are frayed ( first photo after the drawing image ) and there is a hole on the side from being frayed ( first photo after the photo B )
It has some other flaws, such as rather prominent stains (C, second photo after the photo B ) as well as fine and prominent folding lines as shown on photos.
Please see photos for details.

There are also snags on the pattern. (sorry no photos)

This Darari Obi is indeed a very rare item, actually worn by a Maiko in Kyoko!
We would like you to enjoy its serene 'summer of Kyoto' taste via this Obi!
