This is an antique kesyou-mawashi(ceremonial apron for sumo wrestler).
It seems to be for sumo wrestlers.
It has 'Karakusa'(arabesque) and kamon(family crest) design, which is embroidered.
Its embroidery parts and cut velvet parts seems to be from Edo period(1603-1867).
Other parts are re-tailored in recent years.
Its brown color parts are silk cut velvet.
The wrong side is silk.
The narrow belt part and 'tare'(wide end) are different size.
'tare'(wide end) is width 66cm(2ft 1.98in) x length 106cm(3ft 5.73in).
(It does not contain tassels.)

It has missing embroidery threads, loose threads (A), snags and tears (B) caused by fray on the embroidery part.
Threads are getting weak.
It has repaired tears partly on embroidery parts.
They are repaired with black color threads roughly.
Its kamon(family crest) design seemed to be 'Kinkoma'(golden outlining embroidery work).
But it seems to be repaired black threads.
It has folding lines. (C) (indicated as fray)
It has patinas on strings.
For the details, please refer to the photos and figure.

Although not shown on the figure and photo, it has two seams on left edge of 'tare'(wide end).
It has a seam on the wrong side of 'tesaki'(narrow end).

Though it has some imperfections by ages, please enjoy its full taste of antique!
