This is an antique kesyou-mawashi(ceremonial apron for sumo wrestler).
It seems to be for sumo wrestlers.
It has "Kirin" (Chinese mysterious creature) and
phoenix design, which is embroidered.
Glasses are used for eyes.
It seems to be Edo period(1603-1867).
Its cotton part is flannel.
The wrong side is attached fabrics fine 'Ume'(Plum blossoms) 'Karakusa'(arabesque) and yellowish green color solid.
Both fabrics are silk and 'Jinken'(rayon) blend.
It has loose threads (A) and snags (C) on embroidery parts.
Threads are getting weak.
It has missing parts caused by loose threads. (C) (indicated as tear)
It has tiny holes on both edges of 'taresaki'(end of part).
The fabric is getting weak.
Although not shown on the figure, it has many tears caused by frays on the the wrong side of embroidery.
The fabric is getting weak.
It also has some other imperfections such as tiny stains, patinas and smudges.
It has big stains on the felt part.
