This is a glamorous vintage Obi with flower cart of 'kiku'(chrysanthemum), 'botan'(peony), 'fuji' (wisteria) and branched ume(Japanese apricot) design, which is embroidered.
The bold embroidery is eye-catching.
Textile is exquisite silk and has soft touch.
It has woven 'kasumi'(mist) pattern with gold foil threads.
The design is embroidered for only 'otaiko'(square bow) part on the right side, and for 'taresaki'(end of wide part), 'otaiko'(square bow) and 'maegara' (front patterned part) of Kansai wrap(rotate obi clockwise) side on the wrong side.
The pattern on otaiko(square bow) part is designed upside down from kaikiri-line(end mark line) to be tied with hikinuki style.
Both edges are sewn.
It seems to be re-made from Maru obi.
It has loose stitches of gold foil threads and frays on 'maegara' (front patterned part).(D)
Not shown on the sheet, it also has two frays on the two frays on lower 'otaiko'(square bow).
(B) are waste silk.(There might be design on that part.)
It has discoloration by ages, tiny patinas and stains, especially big water stains on the both edges of 'maegara' (front patterned part) aare noticeable.(C)
It has some other flaws such as folding lines.
For the details, please refer to the photos and the sheet.
Although there are these flaws by ages, please enjoy this graceful embroidered design.
