This is a beautiful Kurotomesode kimono of Seisei Matsui.
It has a dyed design of 'michinaga-dori'(wavy line) and tanzaku(strip of paper) with fan, circle and kikko(tortoise shell) pattern.
Gold foil and embroidery work is added to the design.
The textile is exquisite silk and has soft touch.
A silk hiyoku (an additional layer) is attached to it.
It has five dyed kamons(family crest).
There is a stamp of the signature of Seisen Matsui on the right front panel.

It has spots of mold(B) and stains(C).
The stain(D) on the left front panel are not noticeable so much mixed up with the pattern.
It has another slight brown stain(F), which is not noticeable because it is on the hiyoku (additional layer).
The other faults are slight.
For details, please check the figures and photos.

We hope you enjoy this beautiful design!

*Seisei Matsui*
The present Seisei Matsui is a Kyo Yuzen dyer of the 3rd generation.
Although division of labor system is the mainstream in Kimono industry, Seisei's atelier does all works.
Real name of the 1st generation is Sintaro Matsui. He influenced many Yuzen dyer. His embroidery is minute and he is superior to fine gold glazing processing.
Real name of the 2nd generation is Syotaro.
The 3rd generation is Juntaro. His pieces have the modern atmosphere while he is succeeding to the tradition from the 1st generation.
It is the common characteristic of 3 generations that use motifs such as 'shou-chiku-bai' (auspicious three motifs - pine tree, bamboo and ume blossom) with gold glazing and dye with Shibori (tie-dye) technique on 'tataki-zome'(dyed it smashed) background.
These 3 generations studied under Japanese-style painters and those pieces are beautiful as picture.
