This is a vintage Chuya Obi with lovely Daruma on Ichimatsu(checkerboard) pattern, which is dyed.
The tasteful sumi drawing touch and embroidery work show its depth.
Textile is exquisite silk with woven 'shippou-tsunagi' (interlocking circles) pattern and has soft touch.
The woven pattern emerges out by the angle of light.
It has 2 pattern on otaiko(square bow), and the pattern is placed upside down, which is suitable for Hikinuki knot style.
When you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left(Rotate obi counterclockwise), Maegara will show.

The lining is black 'Shusu'(satin), and sailing boat design is dyed with pente on otaiko(square bow) and 'Maegara' (front patterned part) part.
It has 2 pattern on otaiko(square bow), and the pattern is placed upside down, which is suitable for Hikinuki knot style. (blue sailing boat)
When you start wrapping the obi from your left tummy to right(Rotate obi clockwise), Maegara will show.

It can be tied with both way of wrapping.

*The flaw figure are indicated adversely the tesaki and tare end.

It has a seam on the Daruma pattern side.(on 23.23in(59cm) from the tesaki)
It has patinas and slight discoloration by ages overall.
Although not shown on the photo and figure, it has linear prominent smudges between the otaiko(square bow) and 'Maegara' (front patterned part).
It has tiny stains and a rather large slight one near the center of 'Maegara' (front patterned part). (refer to the 2nd flaws photo)
It also has a relatively large stain on the belt part, but it will be hidden.
(about 33.46in(85cm) from the tesaki)
It has slight cracks on the pente parts.
The stains are tiny.

Though it has some flaws by ages, it is in very good condition overall.
