This is a vintage sakiori fabric from pre WWII.
Sakiori is a traditional Japanese technique of rag weaving.The rag strips are cut finely and woven into a tweed-like fabric.
This piece seems to be the fabric of rug. It has four
panels attached together and makes thisi beautiful
piece.
There are some holes near one end and also about
50 cm from the other end, some part are getting thinner.
Please enjoy the interesting coloration.
