This is an antique fukusa with unique
Urashima Taro motif.
Urashima Taro is a popular folk tale, and this design is the scene, which he is arriving or leaving the Ryugujyo ( palace in the sea).
Its unique picture is all elaborately hand embroidered. Please enjoy its fabulous details with more photos.
It is from Meiji peirod ( 1868-1912). Textile is shusu silk ,and lined with red chirimen silk.
It has a few uneven parts of embroidery, and a few slight stains in the right side. The other side has some stains and a few small holes, but as a whole it is in very good condition.
