This is a vintage noragi from Tohoku district. It is made of
kasuri cotton, and has solid cotton lining, and two fabrics are jointed with sashio stitches. Its double ikat
kasuri pattern is genteel and beautiful, and has very soft touch. It was hand-dyed and hand-woven.
It has some tears, but it is still charming piece for its valuable fabrics.
Please imagine the harsh life of the farmers in olden times. Owner must work hard everyday, but they were still poor because of the sluggish economy in Taisho period. Many daughters and sons had to work away from home from when only they were children. But textile must be woven by the wife of the owner, and she poured her warm soul to the fabric.
We love these vintage norage very much.
How about you? Do you feel tha it is only the old rag?
