This is a vintage working wear(vest) for farmer in Shonai Tohoku district. The fabric is cotton, and dyed with indigo. ALl over the fabric cotton stitiches are umbroidered, and this technique is called ' sashiko ' . This beautiful stitches were embroidered one stitch by one stitch, by the wife of the farmer maybe during the agricultural off-season to reinforce the fabric, and also wigive the fabric thermals.

Around the shoulder cotton with stripe pattern are added, and in the both sides part it has different sashiko pattern from main pattern.
It has some slight stains, but as a whole it is in very good condition.
