This is a rare padded sleeping kimono - Yogi. It is made pre WWII in Tohoku district, and its pad are removed.
It is made of cotton, and dyed with indigo.
It has large paulownia mon motif and exotic 'tabane-noshi' motif, which are hand painted with '
tsutsugaki ' technique. ( 'Tsutsu' means 'tube', and 'gaki' means 'paint. 'Tsutsugaki' means paint with squeezing dyestuffs from a tube. ) Its unique pattern is exceptionally exotic and unique.
It has some slight stains and a few repaired holes in the left tabanenoshi pattern. But as a whole it is in very good condition. We highly recommend this exotic
tsutsugaki yogi to the discriminating buyer.
