This magnificent pattern kimono is called `susohiki' and worn by a Geisha when she danced.
Susohiki lieterally means `trail the skirt' and this particular kimono is much longer than other kimono and the bottom is padded. This is worn to do the elegant dance with a folding fan in the Japanese style drawing room. It is considered to be from mid pre WWII.
This particular susohiki has sensational
kicho motif - which are hand painted with
yuzen technique.
kicho is ancient partition, and in each
kicho it has many classic pattern.
This pattern is rare and very impressive.
It has five crest of Okiya(the lodging house of geisha and maiko)
It has some slight or small stains in the front and back. Black color is VERY slightly discolored in the back. Lining has some stains. But as a whole it is in very good condition.
A connoisseur's delight.
