This is an exquisite Maru obi with fan, 'Kiku'(chrysanthemum), 'shippou' (interlocking circles) 'Hanabishi'(flower diamonds) and 'matsu'(pine tree) pattern, which is woven.
This piece was woven by Kawashima Weaving Co., one of the most famous obi weavers.
Gold foil threads are shining on the vivid design and pink color base.
Textile is exquisite silk and has soft touch.
You can see the three lines and 'gunpai'(referee's fan) mark on the tare end, which are the evidence of Kawashima's obi.
It has kaikiri lines(end mark line) on both ends, which is suitable for Hikinuki knot style.

It has slight discoloration on the base due to its age.
It has no patinas.
The figure shows 'taresaki'(end of part) and 'tesaki'(narrow end) in reverse.
Actually it has tiny and blackish stains on the narrow belt part.
So they could be hidden when you tie it. (2nd flaw photo)
It also has some other flaws such as folding lines.
For the details, please refer to the photos and figure.

Though it has some flaws, it is still wearable enough.
Please enjoy its exquisite fashion!

*Kawashima Textiles Co.*

In 1843, company founder, Jimbei Kawashima, opened a fabrics store in Nishijin, Kyoto.
Now Kawashima has two ongoing businesses, traditional garments/textiles and interior products, such as curtains.
The three lines and Gunpai, referee's fan, emblem are the two significant marks of the brand.
The brand is famous because their products and design are elegant, detailed and sophisticated.
Their Hon Fukuro obi is especially highly evaluated for its comfortableness and evenness in thickness.
