*Seisei Matsui*
The present Seisei Matsui is a Kyo Yuzen dyer of the 3rd generation.
Although division of labor system is the mainstream in Kimono industry, Seisei's atelier does all works.
Real name of the 1st generation is Sintaro Matsui. He influenced many Yuzen dyer. His embroidery is minute and he is superior to fine gold glazing processing.
Real name of the 2nd generation is Syotaro.
The 3rd generation is Juntaro. His pieces have the modern atmosphere while he is succeeding to the tradition from the 1st generation.
It is the common characteristic of 3 generations that use motifs such as 'shou-chiku-bai' (auspicious three motifs - pine tree, bamboo and ume blossom) with gold glazing and dye with Shibori (tie-dye) technique on 'tataki-zome'(dyed it smashed) background.
These 3 generations studied under Japanese-style painters and those pieces are beautiful as picture.
