This is a graceful Fukuro obi by Itchiku Koubou with Tsujigahana design, which is dyed.
'Maegara' (front patterned part) is on one side.
When you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left (Rotate obi counterclockwise), the maegara will appear.

The color of 'sumie' (ink brush painting) technique, beautiful ombre dyeing color and three-dimensional design with shibori(tie-dye) technique are attractive.
The woven gold foil thread of weft is shining modestly on the base.
Textile is exquisite silk and has soft touch.

The length is rather long, 440cm(1117.60in).
The design of 'otaiko'(square bow) and 'maegara' (front pattern on belly) will appear when you tie with double layered.
There is a dyer's signature on 'taresaki'(end of part).

There is no folding lines and it seems to be unworn one.
There is no prominent flaw and it is in very good condition.

Please enjoy its graceful fashion!

*Itchiku Kubota*
One of the famous dyeing industrial artists for Tsujigahana technique.
When he was at age 20, he was inspired by Tsujigahana technique, and after long years of study,
he revived it by incorporating the old technique with the new one and created his original technique which he named "Itchiku-Tsujigahana".
He receives a high evaluation in abroad for his unique design and deep hue in the pattern.
He was awarded 'Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres' in 1990 and 'Culture Director General Prize' in 1993.
