This is a graceful opened Tsume tsuzure Nagoya obi with a design of abstract circle and diamond, which is woven.
This piece is made by Kawashima Weaving Co., one of the most famous obi weavers.
Shining gold foil threads are woven in the modern design.
Textile is thick exquisite silk and has smooth touch.
It also has "Hatsurikou" (small gap in the boundaries of colors), which is the distinctive feature of Tsume tsuzure weave.

Maegara(front design) is only one side.
When you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left (Rotate obi counterclockwise), the maegara will appear.
The wrong side of tare has a gunpai-mark(referee's fan), which are distinct features of textile woven by Kawashima Weaving Co, one of the most famous obi weavers in Kyoto.

It was woven amazingly with "Tsume Tsuzure" technique. One thread by one thread, elaborately with nails.
It takes incredibly long time to complete. It has special kind of comfortable and medium touch of Tsume tsuzure silk.

It has slight discoloration on the base, but it is not so bothering.
The stain(2nd flaw photo) on 'otaiko'(square bow) is small and unremarkable, but the linear stain(A), 0.8in(2cm) on the maegara of Kanto-maki (rotate obi counterclockwise) side is rather noticeable and disturbing.
Besides it has a folding line, so for the details please refer to the photos and figure.

If these flaws do not bother you, it could be still tied.
Please enjoy its elegant fashion!

*Kawashima Textiles Co.*

In 1843, company founder, Jimbei Kawashima, opened a fabrics store in Nishijin, Kyoto.
Now Kawashima has two ongoing businesses, traditional garments/textiles and interior products, such as curtains.
The three lines and Gunpai, referee's fan, emblem are the two significant marks of the brand.
The brand is famous because their products and design are elegant, detailed and sophisticated.
Their Hon Fukuro obi is especially highly evaluated for its comfortableness and evenness in thickness.
