This is a Shioze Nagoya obi with a design of gourd, which is dyed.
This piece is designed by Tokio Hata, a living national treasure, famous for his Yuzen technique.
Textile is shioze silk, and it has soft and comfortable smooth touch which is the feature of shioze silk.
It has a stamp of the designer's signature on the tare.

Discoloration on the base and stains on the otaiko are slight, so they are not so prominent.
Besides it has some other flaws such as folding lines.
Please check photos for details.

If these flaws do not bother you, it could be still worn.
Please enjoy its tasteful fashion!

*Tokio Hata*
The late Hata Tokio is a holder of the important intangible cultural asset of Yuzen and also the living national treasure.
He studied about Yuzen of Kaga and Kyo, and created his original Hata-Yuzen.
He mainly dyed beauties of nature.
Mandarin ducks are the signature motifs of his work.
He dyed the tapestry of the Tourou-yama float of the Gion festival, and the Furisode kimono for the late Princess Diana. His work has been appreciated not only in Japan, but also in the world.
Although we can't see his new work anymore, his eldest son, Noboru and his granddaughter, Toki, are also freehand drawing Yuzen dyer. The Hata-Yuzen is still inherited.
