This is a graceful vintage Maru obi
with a large botan(peony) design, which is woven with shiny gold foil threads.
It is woven with Tsume tsuzure
One threads by one threads, it was woven elaborately with nails, and it had to be taken incredibly long time to be completed.
It also has "HATSURIKOU" (small gap in the boundaries of colors), which is the distinctive feature of Tsume tsuzure
Textile is exquisite silk and has thick touch.
The pattern on otaiko(square bow) part is designed upside down from kaikiri-line(end mark line) to be tied with hikinuki style.
'Maegara' (front patterned part) is on one side.
When you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left(Rotate obi counterclockwise), Maegara will show.
It has discoloration over all and prominent patinas partly.
It has blackish stains on the wrong side of te-saki(one end).(The last photo of flaws)
It has folding lines, so for the detail please check figures and photos.
The textile is getting weak due to the age, but it is still very gorgeous design which only vintage items have.
