This is a vintage Nagoya obi
with a design of 'botan'(peony) in basket, which is painted with oil based pigment.
The vibrant design emerges out against the black background.
Textile is glossy shusu(satin) silk and has soft touch.
The wrong side is silk and cotton blend.
Its length is short, 120.3in(305.5cm).
Almost design will not show with usually way to tie.
However, if you make otaiko(square bow) and maegara(front design) first, its design will show.
Maegara(front design) is only one side.
When you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left(Rotate obi counterclockwise), designed side of maegara will show.
Although not shown on the photo and figure, painted designs are deteriorated and cracked.
The pigments are getting hard and they will cracked in the future.
It has some other flaws such as dyestuffs and holes.
