This is a vintage Nagoya obi
with a design of vivid bird and persimmon, which is embroidered.
The fine embroidery work is three-dimensional glossy beauty.
Autumn leaves and large leaves of persimmon are also painted boldly with oil based pigment.
Textile is glossy shusu(satin) silk and has smooth touch.
Maegara(front design) is only one side.
When you start wrapping the obi from your left tummy to right(Rotate obi clockwise), designed side of Maegara will show.
Its length is rather short, 132.7in(337cm).
There are patinas lower otaiko, but they can be hidden when tied.
The photo(A) is not a flaw but a basting stitch.
Besides it has a folding line and a seam on the wrong side of tare.
Please check photos for details.
Although not shown on the photo and figure, painted designs are deteriorated and cracked partly.
There is a small tear lower left of otaiko.
It also has a couple of small holes on the wrong side of otaiko.
The pigments are getting hard and they will cracked in the future.
However, we hope you enjoy its impressive vintage design!
