This is a vintage Nagoya obi
with a design of mallet, which is embroidered vibrantly.
The fine embroidery work has three-dimensional glossy beauty.
Textile is glossy shusu(satin) silk and jinken (rayon) blend.
When you start wrapping the obi from your left tummy to right(Rotate obi clockwise), designed side of Maegara will show.
Its length is rather short, 124in(315cm).
It has whitish tiny spots of molds on the base.
Embroidered stitches are coming loose widely.
It also has a small tear(A), and small stains can be seen on the maegara(front patterned part).
It has some other flaws so please check photos for details.
Unfortunately, it is no longer wearable due to the weaken fabric.
However, we hope you enjoy its impressive vintage design as a handicraft material!
