This is an antique firefighter's cap.
Cotton is padded, and sashiko stitches are added all over to avoid the sparks and hot wind.
It is said that samurai family used helmet for cap, and merchants used leather, Rasha and sashiko cap.

It has sashiko on the outside, and dyed unique 'kawara'(Japanese roof tile) pattern inside.

Although not shown on the photo and figure, 2 button are broken and 1 is missing among 3.
It has frayed feeling and has slight discoloration overall.
It has some other flaws such as tiny stains.
