This is a vintage Tsume tsuzure Maru obi
with alluring Shiba(grass) fence, 'Kiku'(chrysanthemum), iris, and 'nadeshiko' (dianthus) pattern, which is woven with Tsume tsuzure
On the wrong side of Otaiko, botan-like flowers and 'Ume' (plum blossom) are woven.
One threads by one threads, it was woven elaborately with nails, and it had to be taken incredibly long time to be completed. It has special kind of comfortable and medium touch of Tsume tsuzure
Textile is soft silk.
Both ends are closed, but there is no lining inside.
Otaiko pattern is placed upside down so the obi must be tied by Hikinuki.
Maegara on main side will show when you start wrapping the obi from your left tummy to right(Rotate obi clockwise). Maegara on the wrong side will show when you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left(Rotate obi counterclockwise).
It is discolored throughout and white areas of the pattern has patinas which maybe noticed. (sorry no photos)
There are also tears on edges of Otaiko and Maegara patterns.
There are also slight stains on white circle mark on drawing image(near Maegara).
Blank parts are slightly smudged (second photo below the drawing image), and there are also folding lines.
Please see photos for details.
Because of the flaws mentioned, it is no longer suitable for wearing, but it still is a very lovely vintage Tsuzure piece to add to your collection.
