This is a marvelous vintage Maru obi
with crane and tortoise in waves and clouds circles pattern, which is gorgeously woven by Kawashima Weaving Co., one of the most famous obi weavers.
You can see the three lines and 'gunpai'(referee's fan) mark on the tare end, which are the evidence of Kawashima's obi.
The pattern is woven like a relief with "Ukiori" technique.
Textile is exquisite soft silk.
There are kaikiri lines(end mark line) on the both ends to be tied with hikinuki knot style.
*The real color of it is a little bit more vivid pink than photos.
It is relatively short.(13'5"/410cm)
There are some spots where are missing woven threads by fray.(fray A)
The stitches were partially cut to see the maker's trade mark on the 'taresaki'(end of wide part) and 'tesaki'(end of folded end).
There are some other flaws such as a small snag(refer to the 3rd flaws photo) , folding lines.
For the details, please refer to the photos and figure.
Although it has some flaws due to its age, it is still very elegant design which only vintage items have.
