This is a vintage Maru obi
with art nouveau-like 'Karabana' (imaginary flower in China) and parrot silhouette pattern, which is woven.
The colorful foil coated threads shine elegantly.
The pattern is woven with kokechi-ori technique and has three-dimensional look.
Textile is exquisite silk and has soft touch.
Pattern is placed upside down, which is suitable for Hikinuki knot style.
Discoloration and ali patinas by ages can be seen overall.
Although not shown on the photo and figure, it has quite slight discoloration.
Photo(B) is smudges (indicated as fray on the wrong side) and threads are missing by fray.
It has some other flaws such as smudges throughout the edges and tiny stains in places.
For the details, please refer to the photos and the sheet.
It can't be tied tightly, because kokechi-ori fabric does not have enough strength.
It will be teared if tied several times.
Please think it as impossible to tie.
