This is a vintage Maru obi
with a design of 'Sakura'(cherry blossom) and 'kaioke' (a hexagonal container to store clam shells, which are used ancient shell matching game - 'kaiawase' ), which is embroidered on the woven 'Hanabishi'(flower-diamond) pattern background.
Its dynamical embroidered design is eye-catching.
Textile is exquisite glossy silk and has soft touch.
The pattern is set upside down, and it's to be tied in 'hikinuki' style.
The 'Maegara' (front patterned part) is on one side.
When you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left(Rotate obi counterclockwise), Maegara will show.
It has frays on the Tare corners.
It has smudges on both edges throughout.
It has rather prominent discoloration and patinas overall.
Some snags can be seen on the embroidered part of the Otaiko(square bow).
Stitches of the Tesaki are coming loose, and Tesaki is opened partly.
It has smudges along the rather prominent folding lines.
This piece is not suitable to wear, because of the loosen stitches.
Please enjoy its elegant and lovely design of vintage!
*The background color may look uneven in the photos but actual color is one tone just as HTML color.
