This is a vintage Maru obi
with 'yukiwa'(snow crystal), waterwheel and flowers such as 'kiku'(chrysanthemum) motifs, which are embroidered.
Yukiwa and 'tsuzumi'(Japanese hand drum) and kiku motifs are embroidered on the wrong side.
Textile is exquisite silk and has soft touch.
Otaiko is set upside down, and both sides are to be tied in 'hikinuki' style.
When you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left(Rotate obi counterclockwise), Maegara will show on the right side.
When you start wrapping the obi from your left tummy to right(Rotate obi clockwise), Maegara will show on the wrong side.
Its length is rather short. 13'1"(400cm)
Discoloration by ages can be seen overall.
Stains of Otaiko will show when tied and may be prominent.
Embroidery threads of Otaiko are missing by frays in some parts, although it's not mentioned on the sheet and picture.
There are some other flaws such as a folding line (*It doesn't have photo.) and smudges on the line.
