This is a vintage Maru obi
with phoenix, 'matsu'(pine tree) and 'peony' (botan) pattern, which is woven.
Gold foil threads woven on the pattern are gracefully shining.
Textile is jinken (rayon) and has rather crisp touch.
The Otaiko part is set upside down, and it's to be tied in 'hikinuki' style.
Tare end and overall both edges are frayed.
Also, it has tiny snags and a slight folding line.
Please check detail photos.
It seems not to have enough strength to tie.
It must be an amazing handicraft material!
