This is a vintage summer Ro Maru obi
with a design of elegant 'peony' (botan), 'kiku'(chrysanthemum) and 'kikyou'(balloon flower), which is dyed.
Gold and silver foil threads woven on the background are gracefully shining.
Textile is transparent silk and has soft touch.
The otaiko part of the outside is set upside down, and it's to be tied in 'hikinuki' style.
If you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left(Rotate obi counterclockwise), Maegara of outside will show.
Otaiko of wrong side is same as contemporary Obi.
When you start wrapping the obi from your left tummy to right(Rotate obi clockwise), Maegara of wrong side is not upside down.
Its length is rather short. 392cm(12'10")
It has minor wrinkles overall. Some foil threads woven on otaiko background are peeled off and they may be a little bothering when tied. (However, these flaws are not mentioned on the sheet and pictures.)
Stitches of edge of 2 star mark of the figure are coming loose. about 6cm(2.3in)
There are several other flaws such as rather prominent folding lines.
Please check detail photos.
However, it still can be tied as a vintage Obi!
Please enjoy its retro and lovely design of vintage!
