This is a vintage Nagoya obi
with a design of 'sakura'(cherry blossom) and 'kiku'(chrysanthemum) on shells, which are finely embroidered.
Textile is glossy silk Shusu and has soft touch.
The obi has one side patterned at the front part when it is tied. When you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left(Rotate obi counterclockwise), Maegara will show.
Lining is added overall, but lining is separated around 39cm=15.3in from Tesaki.
Folding lines can be seen on triangle part and near of Tesaki, although it's not mentioned on the sheet and picture.
Embroideries of otaiko and maegara( front patterned part) are rubbed off and prominent.
There are several other flaws such as frays of overall edges. (Fabric becomes weak.)
Please check detail photos.
It seems not to have enough strength to tie.
It must be an amazing handicraft material!
