This is a tasteful antique furoshiki with rusty atmosphere.
It may be from late Edo period(1603-1867).
It has 'tabane-noshi' (tied gift wrapping paper) motif, which is dyed with Tsutsugaki
Textile is asa(ramie) with hand plied yarn.
Its used navy color is wonderful!
Discoloration can be seen on the base due to its age.
It has other flaws such as stains.
For the details, please refer to the photos and sheet.
Please enjoy its old antique taste!
*In Japanese, 'asa' includes below three kinds of material. You must feel it strange that 'linen' is included.
'Taima' = Hemp
'Karamushi','Choma' = Ramie
'Ama' = Linen
