This is a tsume-tsuzure Nagoya obi
with lightning-like 'kiredori'(overlapping fabric scraps) on wave design, which is woven on the vibrant orange background.
One threads by one threads, it was woven elaborately with nails, and it had to be taken incredibly long time to be completed. It has special kind of comfortable and stiff touch of Tsume tsuzure
Textile is exquisite thick silk..
It is sewn as "matsuba-shitate" (open Nagoya obi
with tightly folded end of belt part).
'Maegara' (front patterned part) is on one side.
When you start wrapping the obi from your left tummy to right(Rotate obi clockwise), Maegara will show.
It has prominent folding lines and tiny snags.
For the details, please refer to the photos and the sheet.
It's still wearable enough in very good condition.
It can be worn at formal occasions to casual outings
by matching suitable obis.
