This is a glamorous vintage Maru obi
with 'Botan'(peony), 'Kiku'(chrysanthemum) and peacock pattern, which is woven with koukechi-ori technique.
Pattern is placed upside down, which is suitable for Hikinuki knot style.
Pale and smoky colors show impressive atmosphere.
Textile is exquisite silk and has soft touch.
Beside the frays on the tare corners and smudges on the edges, it has some flaws such as discoloration on its base.
For the details, please refer to the photos and the sheet.
Though the condition is good, this piece with its background of woven koukechi-ori technique seems not to have enough strength to tie due to its old age.
It could be easily torn in the future.
It must be an amazing handicraft material or interior decor!
