This is a Nagoya obi
with a design of parrots and exotic 'karabana'(imaginary flower in China), which is woven.
Its colorful and bold parrots are eye-catching on the serene base color.
Textile is exquisite silk and has soft and smooth touch.
Rather prominent discoloration can be seen on the base color overall, due to its old age.
It has a rather noticeable streaky stain on one side of maegara( front patterned part).
However, if you start wrapping the obi from your left tummy to right(Rotate obi clockwise), it is on wrong side. (the 3rd flaw photo)
Threads of tare end are unpicked. Therefore, these parts need to be sewn.(*It is indicated as tear on the figure.)
There is a small tear on the wrong side of the tare end on the unpicked sewing line. The tare corners are frayed.
There are several other flaws such as snags.
Please check detail photos.
This piece has aged feeling and well-used feeling overall, but it has a retro and adorable design.
Please enjoy this piece on vintage Kimonos!
