This is a refined Tsume tsuzure Nagoya obi
with a design of 'peony' (botan), 'kiku'(chrysanthemum) and 'ume'(Japanese plum) on flower vase, which is woven.
Gold foil threads woven on the background are modestly shining.
Textile is rather thick and stiff silk.
One threads by one threads, it was woven elaborately with nails, and it had to be taken incredibly long time to be completed.
The obi has one side patterned at the front part when it is tied.
When you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left(Rotate obi counterclockwise), Maegara will show.
It is sewn as "matsuba-shitate" (open Nagoya obi
with tightly folded end of belt part).
Threads come out on otaiko, although they are not disturbing for wearing.
Please check detail photos.
Extremely slight folding lines can be seen, although it's not mentioned on the sheet and picture.
Its design with plenty of un-patterned space allows it to be matched with many different kimonos.
