This is a fabulous antique cotton fabric from Meiji period(1868-1912), which is dyed with Tsutsugaki
It has a glamorous design of 'Botan'(peony).
The expansive drawing touch is magnificent.
Textile is rather thick hand woven cotton, and it seems that hand spun yarns are used.
This item has been made as a Futon cover. Cotton is removed, but lining is remained. Also, inner cotton is remained.
It has stains, tear and loose threads.
Please check detail photos.
It is really an unintended (mottainai!) art!
