This is an magnificent vintage Maru obi
with flower and bird pattern, which is embroidered.
One threads by one threads, it was embroidered elaborately with shiny gold and silver coated threads and this piece has exceptionally gorgeous atmosphere.
It has similar design on the wrong side, but the bird is designed on the maegara(front pattern).
Therefore, when you start wrapping the obi from your left tummy to right(Rotate obi clockwise), it will show.
Not the other way around, The bird is designed on the otaiko(square bow) of the right side but not on the maegara(front pattern).
When you start wrapping the obi from your right tummy to left(Rotate obi counterclockwise), Maegara will show.
Textile is exquisite glossy silk and has soft touch.
Pattern is placed upside down, which is suitable for Hikinuki knot style.
Beside slight folding lines, frays can be seen on the corners of tare end, tesaki, and both sides.
Some of the embroidered threads(*described as snags on the figure) have been smudged and cut at places(B).
There are some other flaws such as tiny stains (2nd photo below the drawing image) and loose threads of kaikiri lines(end mark line).
For the details, please refer to the photos and the sheet.
It's difficult to determine if this is wearable or not because of its weak fabric.
Still it will be a marvelous display showcasing skillful embroidery techniques.
