This is a stunning fukusa from around Meiji Period(1868-1912) .
Its design is based on the tale of Sima Guang
He is said to rescue a friend with breaking the pot when he was a boy. The friend dropped into the pot, and other friends couldn't help him because they were worried to waste the valuable water and pot.
Its embroidery work is fabulous!
Textile is glossy shusu silk.
Wrong side is chirimen (crepe).
It has peeling spots of foil threads. (the 1st flaw photo)
There are stains.
Also, it has other flaws such as discolorations on wrong side.
