This is a stunning fukusa from around Meiji Period(1868-1912) .
Its design is based on the tale of Sima Guang
He is said to rescue a friend with breaking the pot when he was a boy. The friend dropped into the pot, and other friends couldn't help him because they were worried to waste the valuable water and pot.
Its embroidery work is fabulous!
Textile is shusu silk and has glossy touch. (the wrong side is chirimen (crepe).)
Embroidered parts are frayed and in some parts, motifs are gone away. (the third flaw photo)
The stitches in embroidered parts are coming loose.
Also, three tassels are missing.
There are other flaws.
Please check detail photos.
