This is startled
nagoya obi with 'Yaoya Oshichi' motif which is woven on the black background. Yaoya Oshichi was a daughter of the greengrocer. The story is back in Edo period, she attempted to commit arson after falling in love with a boy. The motif is its sad story which is the figure climbing a fire tower to right the fire bell.
Textile is silk and jinken(rayon) blend, and has soft smooth touch.
It has a slightly shiny design by using
urushi coated threads.
As the photos and figure shown, some of the
urushi coated threads are blurred. As photo (A) shows, the tears can be seen on the tare end. Please refer the photos and sheet for other flaws and details.
Although there is a bit of feeling of use, but it is a great piece to enjoy its distinctive classical atmosphere!
