This obi is gorgeously made with couple of Japanese traditional textile making techniques such as silvery metallic coated wefts and 'raden'(design in mother-of-pearl inlay).
In spite of the luxurious techniques applied on this item, its pattern is very weird with the three strange looking monks lined up in the otaiko (square bow) area.
The tare end has the Chinese character of
Zen.
This design might has a hidden meaning, but sorry we're not sure....
Textile is silk, and it has soft touch.
There seems to be no noticeable damage and so it's in excellent condition.
*Approx background color - silver
Softness ( Exceptionally Soft, □Soft, Medium, Comparatively Stiff, Stiff )
