This is a stunning vintage reversible
maru obi with embroidered motif of the legend of
Fujiwara no Hidesato In the story Fujiwara no hidesato stamps out the huge centipede which is long enough to go around Mt.Mikami for seven and a half times!
On one of the otaiko you can see the centipede on the mountain. Small chrysanthemum and 'seigaiha'(wave) are also embroidered stylishly.
Textile is shusu silk and has soft and smooth touch.
*In the both sides of otaiko and maegara( the patterned part of belt part, which will be the belly part when it is tied ) parts, embroidery is added and the rest party is solid brown.
Photo A shows a whitish stain. The lining may shrink and there are deep wrinkles at places.
It has some other flaws such as strong discoloration and fray. Please check details with photos and the figure.
