This is a
Furisode for brides from mid Showa period (1926-1989).
Its dyed exotic pattern is well expressing the time's strong interest in the West - there are palm trees and ships from Europe going through ornate 'seigaiha' (waves).
It has 5 kamons (family crests) remained undyed.
The bottom is padded, and it is worn with the bottom trailing along the floor.
Textile is silk, and it's soft.
As the photos and the sheet show, it has some flaws.
The white areas are discolored, and noticeable smudges can be seen in whole.
The stitches of the armholes are coming loose.
The gold dyeing is cracked and peeled off at some spots.
Shown in the photo I are stains of dyestuff.
For the details, please refer to the photos and the sheet.
Still, it would be an impressive display in your house and well convey the atmosphere in Japan around that time!
