This
meisen kimono is from mid Showa period(1926-1989) and has very unique design - in the colorful leaves, dogs are woven!
The dog is Japanese spitz, which was the most popular dog in Showa 20's and 30's. When I was a boy, many people had spitz! It is said that more than 40% of the registered dog at the ages was spitz.
However, the boom had passed dramatically, and recently we seldom see the spitz.
Meisen kimono was often designed with the motifs, which were popular among people. This piece is the typical (but very rare) sample of it.
Textile is silk and has smooth and soft touch.
It has some flaws as photos show. The discoloration is slight, but some stains are prominent. However, as a whole it is in very good condition.
