This is an antique nobori-bata, flag dedicated to a shrine.
From the text, we can know it is from Kaei 4( 1851).
Textile is soft cotton, which is hand spun and woven elaborately with Japanese cotton.
Belt part is made of beautiful chintz cotton!
Because of its old age, it has some flaws as photos show. However, this piece must be an excellent Japanese cotton sample.
