This is a vintage maru obi with wonderful tsume tsuzure fukuro obi - phoenix and 'karabana'( imaginary Chinese flower) motifs are woven in Shokko-mon pattern.
One threads by one threads, it was woven elaborately with nails, and it had to be taken incredibly long time to be completed. It has special kind of comfortable and medium touch of tsume tsuzure silk.
Unfortunately it is well worn and has many stains, patinas, prominent folding line. In addition, it seems to be discolored all over. We can't say it is in very good condition, but still valuable piece!
