This is a rare nagoya obi from around WWII.
It was designed to lift the will to fight. Characters read 'Kokubou'( national defense ) and 'chikara'(power). And lantern ('chouchin') and gears are also woven. These lanterns were used to celebrate the victory.
There were couple of women groups, who cooperated the war, and this piece had to be ordered by one of them.
Textile is jinken(rayon) and has medium touch.
It has some flaws as photos show. However, it is still very valuable piece!
